2014 - New zoning ordinance prohibited gas drilling

In May 2014 the North Braddock council passed a zoning ordinance which limited drilling to industrial areas only. This ordinance allowed for some special approval in residential and commercial areas, but it made it very difficult for the Grand View Golf Club fracking proposal to continue, because it was in a residentially zoned area. Many residents were fiercely opposed to the idea of fracking in the neighborhood, which effectively stalled the project, and no drills were installed at the golf course.
